Your Catechist:
Mr. Rory Chalcraft
for ~~eight~~ nine years (this will be my ~~eighth~~ ninth year) - and for all but one of those years I've taught 8th grade.
You might also see me singing in the choir on Sundays at the 11 AM Mass ... I'm the really really tall one in the back row.
I work for a rather large financial institution - as a Senior Instructional Designer, which means that I design and develop training programs for the employees of the company. My work focuses on web-based training, so I am constantly online with designing and programming a wide number of Internet-based training programs. I also head up several research projects for the company about how to best use technology for the purpose of daily training inside the organization.

Attendance Policy
Because we have a lot of information to go over during the year it is important that each student be at class each week.
Students are expected to arrive to class on time. We start class promptly at 4:30pm.
No one is allowed in the classroom before 4:20pm ... I appreciate your cooperation.
Diocesan Policy states that there can be no more than three (3) absences for the entire school year. If a student is absent more than three times, a notice is sent home from the Director of Religious Education (DRE). Excessive absences may result in withholding grades.
Please note that tardiness and leaving early will count toward the total number of absences for the year. When tardy three times, this counts as one full absence. The same is true for early dismissal.
Expectations for Class
Students are expected to attend all classes.
During classes, students are expected to:
participate in our class discussions
act charitably - in a Christ-like manner to others
respect others and respect the property of others
complete all assigned classwork and homework
Students are expected to bring the following to class each week:

a notebook or notebook paper
a Bible
Class Assignments, Testing & Homework

Christian Service Projects
Christian service focuses on being a follower of Jesus as He "came to serve and not to be served." His command to "love one another as I have loved you" requires us to focus on helping other people; for each one of us is a brother and sister in Christ Jesus - "that whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do that unto me."
Students are required to complete four (4) service projects. There is no minimum number of hours required for any project.
Each service project should, when possible, be a way to help the parish community of St. Bartholomew's Church.
When a service project is performed, the student is to complete an evaluation sheet and turn it into their teacher. (We strongly recommend that the student complete the evaluation sheet right after completing the service project, so that the experience is still fresh in their minds).
