- A "Do Now" that reviews information from last class.
- Unpacking the Creed - beginning to understand what we profess
- What are the Four Marks of the Church?
Introduce the dogma of the Communion of Saints

Students should be able to define or explain the following terms:
- Sacred Scripture
- Sacred Tradition
- Magisterium
Students are to begin researching lives of the Saints in preparation for selecting their patron saint and confirmation name.

Confirmation Enrollment Ceremony and Meeting. This is a meeting for all 8th grade students and parents.

- A "Do Now" that reviews information from the last class.
- Chapter 1 of the textbook (we started it last week)
- Introduce the dogma of the Communion of Saints
|
(just review - no worksheet is required to be turned in for the 4 Marks. Students should review and know that information)
Students should know the 4 Marks of the Church and what each one means:
- One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic
Research a saint and prepare a 1-page report on that saint's life. Include what that person did in life and why it is considered virtuous; and include why you have chosen this saint as a model for your life. This paper is due on October 20.
Be prepared to share this information with the lower grade students. I will explain this in class. Please Note/Update: We have costumes for the students to wear, so you don't need to provide them.

Textbook pages 30, 32-33: The nature of living a moral life; what does morality really mean and how do we make good choices for our life?
The choices we make have consequences - the difference between venial and mortal (serious) sin.
Textbook page 36-37: How to properly form your conscience.
We will begin examining the sacraments in more detail, using this handout (click this link to view/open the document)

Complete your saint essay - 1 page report on the saint you've chosen. (See above).
This is due 10/20.
Download and begin studying the Faith Review Sheet. We will be using this in class for the next several weeks.
